2000 Volvo S40?

just purchased an s40....Radio seems not to be working. I was advised that a code was all that was needed to be entered to put it back in working mode. I've obtained the code but the option to enter it is not presenting itself. Anyone has a information in regards to stereo problems.

if the code has been incorrectly entered more than three times you have to turn the ignition to the 1 position with the radio on for two hours to get it out of safe mode, remember to turn off the headlights so you dont kill the battery

I used to own a 2001 S40. I had owned a much older Volvo before, and so had several members of my family. All I have to say was that the S40 I owned was nothing like how Volvos used to be, especially when it came to reliability. Have a 2002 Volvo S40. Inside of car filled with electrical smoke. Problem connected to power windows.?

Took to mechanic. He said relay to power windows had melted wires (relay under dash). Melted wires go into wire harness. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any Volvo mechanics out there?
