How do you disable the driver or passenger seatbelt reminder in a 2006 Volvo S40?
I worked as a Military Police Officer so I certainly advocate wearing a seatbelt. However, if I have items in my passenger seat, the Volvo thinks that it is a person and sounds the reminder. And as far as the driver seatbelt reminder, if you are sitting waiting in the car with it running, it still sounds the reminder. Always wear a seatbelt. And...

you cannot disable that. It is an occupant weight sensor that is built into the passenger seat. Whenever it feels there is weight on the seat, the message will display. Things as light as a laptop computer will trigger the message, but unfortunately there is no way to disable that system...

If you are competent enough to do the job properly, then do it yourself. If you have to come on here to find out how it's done, then take it somewhere someone will do it for you. There's no point in messing up a simple job which can cost you dearly in the long run, just so you might save a few...
