I just got a 2002 Volvo S40, and I was wondering if it has a killswitch (it shuts off when you reach a certian speed) and if it does at what speed does it shut off?

Geez, what a bunch of moronic "answers" you've received! The speed governor is in the software of the computer (ECU) that controls the motor; it is set to 155 MPH and, yes, there ARE places in the world where it is legal to go that fast.
