2006 VW Phaeton yes or no?
I am thinking of getting an 06 VW Phaeton (V8) since it's a lot cheaper than that same year A8 or Lexus LS. What is your take on the Phaeton?

The problem with any Phaeton is that they aren't making them any more; in the US (at least) only specially appointed dealerships were able to sell the vehicle and had to have certain parts on hand for it that were limited to that vehicle. Also those dealerships had specialassigned service techs...

2004 VW Phaeton seems to be a big bang for the buck in used vehicles? Worth it?
I am considering buying a 2004 VW Phaeton w/50K miles. It has depreciated a whole lot from the orig sticker of $66,000. Is it worth it?--Allthough a good price, I am worried that it will consume my $$$in maintenance/repair costs.. Does anyone out there have any advice? Is it reliable enough to hit 100k miles with no or minimal maintenance costs?

I assume that your considering a Phaeton V8, not the W12 model. Here's what I can tell you based upon my experience in a VW dealership service department and its a different view than some people might give you. Firstly, I agree that the Phaeton gives a lot of luxury features for very little money...

How reliable is the VW Phaeton?
I am very interested in the Phaeton since it is my favourite car out there. I found a 4.2L V8 2004. I now a lot about vehicles and I would really appreciate other peoples advice! The short answer is no. The long answer is that you will have to modify engine mounts change the trannys and drive lines along with the computer and all the sensors. And there's no telling what kind of modifications may need to be done to the suspension to support the extra weight of the engine.
