I have a 1999 Volkswagen New Golf GL, and I was wondering how I can decode the VIN number. I am trying to see if the car has ever been repainted, because the previous owner said it was, but the sticker in the spare tire area says LB5N, which is Indigo Blue Pearl, and they said the original color was Jazz Blue. You are correct that LB5N is Indigo Blue, however if I am not mistaken that was not a color offered for the 99 model Golf, it was however offered in 2000.
