sounds like the immobilizer is activated, turn the key on check the dash panel look for a flashing symbol that looks like a car if you see it flashing that's what you have.

Blue light in the form of a headlamp - high beams are on. Use the indicator stalk to turn it off (as described by the other people). Blue light in the form of a thermometer in water - engine is still cold, drive carefully.
