Anything I should know before buying a 2001 Jetta Wagon?
I'm about to purchase a 2001 Jetta Wagon with about 175,000 miles on it. It is a manual/5 speed. My brother bought a 2002 Jetta and within a few months the transmission crapped out. I understand that was a bad year for Jetta. Any thoughts about a 2001 Jetta Wagon for $3600? Thanks!

I just cruised Craigslist, and it is in the reasonable range. A 170k miles is not a lot for a VW. VW does not have any maintenance or design problems at all. I have over 300k miles on my GTI, and it has never yet used a drop of oil between oil changes. The only repair other than normal wear items...
