I have a 2006 Golf TDI. It has been taking along time to warm up in cold mornings (-25C).?

Sometimes when I drive to work (30 minute drive) it doesn't even warm up. I am talking about the temp. gauge for the engine. I have been told it should be at 90C and it doesn't even reach that. Has this problem happened to anyone else? Is this a thermostat problem or is it a thing with volkswagon diesel vehicles? Thanks

The VW TDI won't warm up just by leaving it idle. You need to make the engine work hard before it will throw any heat. Basically this means you need to be driving down the road. Are you doing mainly city driving? TDIs have a tendancy to cool down and thus have a harder time throwing warm heat. The...
