Are 2002 cabrio and jetta passat ecms the same?
I am trying to transfer an ecm from a 2002 jetta to my 2002 cabrio and want to know if they are basically the same thing

All VWs with the same engine probably use the same ECM. The only reason why there would be any difference is if the Cabrio was an older system due to a desire not to make changes to the custom body. But that is unlikely. It is most likely the same. You could just check part numbers to be sure.

i just bought a 2002 Volkswagen cabrio and now 2 days after i have it, it will start, but as soon as you give it gas it dies. my mechanic tested the distributor and that's not it. im really trying to avoid taking it to a dealership. any ideas?

2002 Cabrio with window problems?
I've had intermittent yet bearable problems with the windows for about 2 years now. Mostly the driver's side window when rolling it up would stop and roll back down which I understand is just an overly sensitive safety mechanism. (so your kid doesn't decapitate himself). you could take a chance on a used motor. i would make sure the window seals are not worn out also they cause most motor failures.
