I brought my 2007 4runner to 5,000 rpm one time. How likely would there be damage?
I just wanted to test the V8 engine to it's limits. How likely are critical engine components (i.e. piston, cylinder block) damaged as a result of this? Usually Toyota redesigns a car every 5 years. The current bodystyle 4Runner came out in 2003 so expect the redesign in 2008.
