I brought my 2007 4runner to 5,000 rpm one time. How likely would there be damage?
I just wanted to test the V8 engine to it's limits. How likely are critical engine components (i.e. piston, cylinder block) damaged as a result of this? The engine has been on for a while before I did this and it was cold (higher oil velocity) so I was thinking potential damage would be minimal. Anyone have any thoughts? TYPO: I meant "higher oil...

psshhh, dont worry about it. my first 4.7 toyota v8 was abused by the whole family driving it. i cant count how many times ive seen the rev limiter on that engine .....it was still growing strong at 200k miles before an idiot salt truck decided to pummel it. i have now a gx470, same engine, almost...

Usually Toyota redesigns a car every 5 years. The current bodystyle 4Runner came out in 2003 so expect the redesign in 2008.
