How many miles can I expect out of a 2001 Subaru Forester?
It has about 81,000 miles now, and I'm driving about 10,000 per year now.

I agree with Kerry. Subaru has been around for a long time. I know people who have outbacks, imprezas, and foresters that have over 150,000! and they still whip them around! Your car will last for a while if you keep up the matinenses all that good stuff. Hear is a link. you may already know about...

What tires are best for my 2001 Subaru Forester: Firestone FR 710 or BF Goodrich Premier Touring?
I do a good amount of winter driving, so performance on snow is somewhat important.

both are not good. You need to get snow tires, for example Michillin X-ice. The two tires that you have above may last around 50k and be done. They are likely the cheaper and lower quality tires. If you still have to decide on either one, I will go with BF goodrich preimer (non-directional)...

If you are using the stock wheel, I think that size is your best bet. There are not many 225 width tires that have the same sidewall height

I'm not sure, but every Subaru I've scene pumps from the same one as the front, under the hood. If you aren't getting fluid it's probably the rear pump. Reference:22 year Suby owner.
