How can i use the vehicle identification number of my 2002 nissan pathfinder to know the engine number.?
the place where the engine number is imprinted is on the engine block,so the engine will have to be removed before i can see the numbers,so is it possible to use the VIN to trace the engine number.

Yes, but you can't tell the engine number directly by looking at the VIN. Take the number to the dealer and they will be able to look it up. Nissan will have that information in its database. That's pretty much the only way you will get what you want. Reference:Nissan Technician

Where is the Heat Shield located on a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder?
I've been hearing a rattling coming from under the car. After some searching people suggested it might be the heat shield....only problem is I'm not sure where it's located.

Do so only after the exhaust has cooled. Front tubes look like cat converter just under the drivers...
