I just installed new running boards on my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder after the OEM ones rusted?
I live literally 500 feet or so from the beach so I imagine the salt in the air caused them to rust so quickly, I purchased some new stainless steel ones and installed them, the site says they will not rust, but I am curious, do you think I should apply something on them to keep them from rusting, and if so, what can I apply that isn't super messy...

They will not rust,.

The recommendation for the timing belt should be in the owners manual.

Whats the average MPG on a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?
JUST WONDERING WHAT TYPE OF MILEAGE PER GALLON YOU GUYS ARE GETTING. I HAVE APPROX. 85K MILES ON MY TRUCK AND I GET LEES THAN 150 MILES ON 10 GALLONS OF FUEL. IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN I THINK THAT'S WORST THAN A HUMMER. I 20" RIMS I WONDER IF THATS A FACTOR, OR WHAT CAN I DO TO IMPROVE MY MPG ?

You can Just check the Spark plugs or get ur truck a tune up. sometimes due to lot of miles spark plugs don't work efficiently. so try changing them. My friend had same kind of truck but he gets like 19 -20 miles per gallon.

It also only seems to happen when the vehicle is first started. The brakes were recently checked (within 1-2 months of this beginning) at Goodyear, and they checked out fine. They don't seem to have any problem...

Just a low fluid indicator. From a clean new can bottle pour into the brake resv. one or two ounces of brake fluid DOT#3 will do. AS the front pads wear brake pistons move out the fluid lowers till the light turns on. I would get a second opinion and make sure they actually remove the front wheels...
