Weren't they competitive with the lower priced full size cars such as the Ford Galaxie 500, Chevrolet Impala, Dodge Polara, Mercury Monterey and Pontiac Catalina or were they more upscale than those cars? The Chrysler Newport was the entry level to the upscale division and I would say it's more upscale than the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Galaxie but in the same league as the Mercury Monterey, Dodge Polara, Plymouth Fury III, Pontiac Catalina and Oldsmobile Delta 88.
