Why is my transmission fluid dark brown with only 17,00 miles? 2009 Mazda 5?
Just purchased a 2009 Mazda 5 with 14,600 miles. Just had my first service at 17,500 miles. My local mechanic said the transmission fluid color was not right. It was a dark brown. Is this common? It has auto and manual transmission. Am I looking at a major problem? Alan Has not overheated since I purchased it. Yes, It is still under warranty...

Check the color of the transmission fluid. Pull out the dipstick from the transmission filler neck. If the transmission fluid is brown, it is likely burnt. If it smells burnt, then obviously it is. Have the fluid changed immediately to prevent serious damage. Reference:http://mazda-5.com/

2009 Mazda 5 broken CD player.?
It's a 2009 base model (I think) Mazda 5 I've only had it for about 6 months and the CD player died today. I got up to 100 °F today (even hotter in the car) but they should make it so the heat doesn't ruin the CD player because once you turn off the car there's no way to keep it cool. The AM/FM radio and Satellite radio still work I'm not sure...

I would say that the CDs maybe melted a little bit and warped. Take it to the dealer.

Can you lease the 2009 Mazda 5 for 48 months?
We are looking at this car. We don't know if we want to pay cash, finance, etc. But if we lease it would need to be for about a 4 year term, not 3 years. If it can only be longer, how long?

Financed cars is more expensive to insurance cause it requires full coverage. You can compare how much you would pay for full coverage of this car using this tool - carinsurance.yoll.net

Why should I also consider these? X

With a starting price of just under $18,000 for the base Sport, the 2009 Mazda Mazda5 is quite a deal for a sporty, economical people-mover, provided you watch the options; fully loaded top-line Grand Touring models can top $28,000.

Kia has a lineup of vehicles that are especially friendly for urban dwellers who want a lot of people-hauling ability and yet need to fit into a compact-only parking space.

The Sedona is one of the few remaining minivans sold in a maneuverable short-wheelbase version.

But there's also the Rondo, a vehicle that looks a little odd but does everything right in terms of passenger transport and interior comfort.

The Rondo has hinged rear doors, however, and only offers an automatic transmission.

The Kia doesn't have the Mazda5's tight handling, though with either of the Rondo's four- or six-cylinder engines, it feels peppier and more refined than the Mazda5.

Among other offerings, the RAV4 is one of the few compact SUVs to offer a usable third-row seat, though only for short trips or small kids.

The perky Scion xB might suit those who don't really need a third row of seating, as its stylish, boxy body affords a roomy interior.
