1998 Mazda 626 Issues?
312 000km on car, 200 000 km on motor, 2.0 Liter 5 Speed. Issue 1: Gas tank (plastic) is leaking at the top, strong odor when full. Does not leak when on flat ground, but steep hills and jerky driving cause it to leak until about 3/4 full. Issue 2: Common with older engines, the bottom half is moist with oil (not yet dripping), not coming head...

This model Mazda 626 is notorious for transmission problems...That many miles on it already I'd probably sell it while the tranny is still shifting...........I had one and my mother had one same problems on both bad transmissions......

im no mechanic or pretend to be i can hear it click but i cant find it to bang on it can you help plz?

First find battery and follow starter wire until it goes down under car and that is where you will find starter, If still not sure get someone to start car and look for the sound , hope this helps. Reference:36 years @ ford motor co repairman

Is 154,000 miles a lot for a 1998 Mazda 626 DX?
I have been looking to buy a used car for a while and keep finding "good" deals but the cars have high milage. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if Mazdas are generally good if they have high milage.

154,000 miles is not that much. I know a dude with a 1999 Mazda Miata that has 197000 miles. Mazdas are generally good (in terms of fuel economy, horsepower, transmission, etc.) so it the 1998 Mazda 626 DX.
