2000 Lexus RX 300 choke question?
I have a 2000 Lexus RX 300 that will start but then quit when I first start it unless I have my pedal on the gas until it is warmed up or I start driving. It has 70,000 miles on it and didn't do this before. Would it be something in the choke or what would it be that needs to be replaced? I want an estimate before I go to the crooked mechanic...

When do you change the timing belt on a 2000 Lexus RX300 ?
2000 RX300 purchased new, always serviced by dealer, now over 8 years old, with only 40,000 miles. Should timing belt and hoses be changed on basis of age rather than milage ?

The belt should be changed at the normal intervals in your service manual. As far as the hoses, they shouldn't need changing, but it also depends on what weather conditions the car has been through.

How can I get the on-board computer of a 2000 Lexus RX300 to use metric units in the data shown on the screen?
I bought my car ages ago in California. Spanking new from the dealer, the car has been good to me but I always longed for something. To be able to tell the temperature and other data as it makes sense to me. No matter how long in the US or anywhere else I may live 77 F does not feel like 25 C.

The U.S. RX was sold to display in F only, not C. It was not something the user can change by himself. There might a way to do so in the dealership via working on the ECU, but I'm not sure. If you were to buy a Toyota Harrier and import it here, that would display in metrics.

OK, here's the scoop. I have a friend of mine transferring overseas. He has a black 2000 Lexus RX 300 AWD, loaded w/ leather, 130,000 mi. He's needing to sell it by mid-Jan. He's wanting $7500 for it. I'm not very knowledgeable in Lexus, regarding performance, maintenance, etc. If there are those with experiences with older RX 300's, could someone...

well if you are trying to commute on the all wheel drive, it is bad news for you. lexus is a good car, but after around 150-160,000 miles it starts getting the flu, if you know what i mean. on your spot, i wouldnt take the lexus for 7500. maybe if the price was lower, yeah. but you will end up...
