Yes, it will bend valves if the timing belt breaks. Replace the timing belt if you are not sure of the history of the vehicle, they are good for 60K miles, not much more. The timing belt job is around $400 if it hasn't broken and $1500 if it has. Reference:Hyundai Parts/Serv Mgr.

How do I remove the power steering pulley from a 2001 hyundai santa fe?
Bolt and nut in center of pulley turn together, but it doesn't come loose. I expected the nut to come off, but the bolt stays attached to it and they turn together.

Where is the Transmission Control Module hiding on my 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe?
I keep getting a 1529 error code displayed on my reader, which says is linked to an error coming from the TCM. I'm having a hard time with my truck's transmission. Broken speedometer or electronics?
I've got a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe and the speedometer works occasionally. Since the odometer and trip odometers are digital it doesn't record mileage properly. Could this be a bad cable or the electronics in the dash going bad? Or both?

I would check the cable where it go into the trans . It could be loose or the senser at the trans is faulty. Reference:Dons Auto Service
