When it comes to tires, you get what you pay for... Cheaper tires have a softer rubber compound which causes chipping, gashing, and rapid wear - especially if you frequent gravel roads. Goodyear MTR's are probably the top AT tire in my book for traction wear and all season capabilities. BFG A/T...

The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox is the same basic vehicle, priced about the same and available with all of the same equipment but with a very different look.
If the Terrain sounds like the right vehicle for you, but just doesn't fit your image, try the Equinox.
The Toyota RAV-4 and Honda CR-V beat out the Terrain in cargo room, but the Terrain's long options list and good fuel economy make it a worthy alternative.
The slightly smaller Nissan Rogue and Ford Escape compete well on price, but the Terrain could beat them on features and size.
