Your brake light switch is probably bad. It is fairly easy to replace for a DIYer. It's located under the dash above the brake pedal. Reference:Just my opinion

Yes you can convert the vehicle over to coil springs.. Did the same conversion to my Expedition and couldn't be happier, not to mention it was so cheap compared to what the Ford dealer quoted me. There are a few different companies out there that do the conversions, I went with Strutmasters...
