Why doesn't the steering column in my 2005 Ford Crown Victoria lock when I turn it off and turn the wheel?
One day I noticed my steering column doesn't lock anymore when I turn the vehicle off and I was just trying to figure out why and if it would be something that would cost a lot to have repaired. The steering wheel is always left in the correct position where the wheels are straight.

Don't be offended by this but, most of the newer Fords no longer have locking steering due to the advent of anti theft ignition systems. If you have PATS enabled keys (anti theft with a blinking light before you put the key in the ignition) then your car does not have locking steering. To be sure...

No!!!! The police interceptor badges will likely cause an international incident. Don't do it man. And take the lights off they just look stupid!

Under the drivers side of the dashboard, right above the data link connector. it will have three plugs going to it.
