I'd say there both equal. I think there built on the same chassis and have the same engines and transmissions so it's more up to preference.

Steering wheel for a 2006 monte carlo ls?
can you can a steering wheel that doesnt have audio contraols for one that does? if so please send paste a link so i can see the price...its for my stereo that doesnt come with a remote avic-f90bt bit they have adapaters for the steering wheel controls but only if there is a factory audio control...thanks

The main reason I purchased the ss was because it's a rear wheel drive with a v-8 where as the regular monte carlo is front wheel drive with a v-6 only. Reference:been there and done that
