How much does a BMW service cost?
Hello all! Just wanted to find out how much a BMW service costs for a 5 series around the 45k mileage mark? (in hertfordshire at a BMW dealer). Thank you!

I'm guessing that as it's at the 45k mark then it is the cars third service that is due. This is an oil service in which case it will be around 150. However if it's the forth service then it will be the inspection 2 which will be 300+ at least. You then may need to add the cost of renwing the brake...

My first car was a 1989 525i BMW. There was a problem EVERY WEEK! I would stay away. First because the car is so old every hose in the car is cracking and leaking. There are maybe 40 hoses in the engine, they each cost 30-200 per hose and then labour. I had to replace so many parts in that car it...

Deff.. the bmw 5 series because it is made for the mid class people, and the 7 series is for the rich folkes with a pocketfull for the dealer which can scare them for the little engine lights which pop up more often for the 7 series. I had experience with the bmw 5 series.

Question about cars (BMW's specifically)?
Are 5 series BMW's better than 3 series's BMW ... If not or if so ... for what reason. and by better i mean usually more expensive

Yes, the 5series is better than the 3series. The 5series is more of a premium luxury than the 3series but the 3series are also luxury cars. It is based on what your needs are, if you need a mid-full size sedan because of family then go wight the 5series but if you only have like a few people (2)...

Why should I also consider these? X

The chief competitor to the 2009 BMW 5-Series's sedan is the Mercedes E-Class, and the Audi A6 Avant is the Sports Wagon's closest rival.

The E-Class has more of an emphasis on comfort than the 5, with a roomier-feeling interior and a softer ride.

The Avant only comes with the 255-horsepower, 3.2-liter V-6 engine, not the larger, 350-horsepower V-8 available on the sedan.

As with the Sports Wagon, all-wheel drive is standard, though the Avant has a slightly softer ride, and its handling isn't as sharp as that of the 5-Series, nor does it offer such advanced technology features.

The Cadillac STS brings plenty of high-tech options and respectable performance, but it doesn't have the prestige of the 5-Series.

The Saab 9-5 SportCombi is now a quite dated design.

It comes with front-wheel drive and turbocharged four-cylinder power, and its powertrains aren't as refined as those of the other rivals, but it's packaged well, with excellent seats, plenty of headroom, and more useful cargo space.

There's also the Infiniti M35 and M45, which bring brisk performance and some rival high-tech features such as a lane-departure system, but their cabins aren't as quiet and refined as those of the 5-Series models.
