Transmission problem was taken care of in 2003. I used to work a service advisor at an Acura dealer and we saw no 04's with tranny problems when i was there. The 2004 model and up are VERY reliable vehicles.

I have a 2004 Acura MDX which requires unleaded supreme gasoline. Should I put in a lesser grade octane?

Octane rating has no direct correlation between performance or gas mileage. It does however correlate to increased knock resistance, which is needed in higher compression vehicles. Knock (aka preignition) is when the fuel/air combo spontaneously ignites in the combustion chamber before the spark...
