Why should I also consider these? X

The Nissan Rogue might be the closest rival to the the 2010 Jeep Compass; it also utilizes a four-cylinder engine and a CVT for its powertrain.

Even though Nissan uses the same CVT, it works better in the Rogue, while the Rogue's interior appointments don't feel nearly as cheap.

It's also easy to identify the popular Ford Escape as a reasonable competitor to the Jeep Compass.

If you have the opportunity to drive a 2010 Escape, you'll enjoy a much more substantial vehicle that offers V-6 and gas/electric hybrid power in addition to a four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic.

The Hyundai Tucson doesn't win friends with its styling, but it is a good package overall, and a V-6 is available.

The Toyota RAV4 also offers a V-6 and is a very spacious, agreeable vehicle, but most versions have the spare tire mounted in back like an old-style SUV.

The Honda CR-V reigns as the segment leader here for those who don't plan to go off-road; its interior is well appointed and nearly as spacious as a minivan.
