Mazda says its production system will be used in the assembly process in China , where it will have capacity to build 160,000 subcompacts a year. The plant will sport "cutting-edge eco-friendliness, efficiency, and an employee-friendly working environment," Mazda said in a release.

Production will begin by year's end. By 2010, Mazda hopes to sell 300,000 vehicles a year in China.
