Volvo’s sport-utility vehicle receives several important updates for ‘07, including the addition of the new S80’s 235-horsepower 3.2 liter in-line six-cylinder engine as its standard powerplant — along with an also-standard six-speed Geartronic automatic transmission, revised grille, bumpers, and interior design with new leather gearshift knob and trim plates. The standard audio system is now MP3 capable and you can order up Sirius satellite radio. The optional V-8 remains unchanged from last year, still producing 311 horsepower. It is also teamed with the six-speed Geartronic automatic. The XC90 can seat up to seven passengers via an optional hideaway third-row seat, making it a viable alternative to truck-based SUVs and seven-passenger minivans. The XC90’s second-row seat can also be adjusted fore and aft to maximize either cargo space or passenger room. Front-side and side-curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution and Brake Assist, stability and traction control, roll-stability control and a rollover protection system are all included, as is a tire pressure monitoring system. A long list of available options includes a wood-trimmed steering wheel, rear parking assist, integrated child booster seat, DVD navigation system, self-leveling rear suspension, rain-sensing wipers, and heated seats.
