Impreza
Subaru's compact sedan and wagon line continues for 2006 with a minor interior and exterior freshening highlighted by a new face, which features the automaker's new trademark grille that sports wings on each side. This broad range of all-wheel-drive models includes the Impreza 2.5 RS sedan, 2.5 TS wagon, and performance-oriented WRX and WRX STI. Most versions offer a 165-horsepower, 2.5-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder and a five-speed-manual transmission, with a four-speed automatic optional. An Outback Sport wagon that features SUV-like styling cues and a slightly higher ground clearance, along with assorted added features is available. For the performance minded, the Impreza comes in two "tuner car" versions, each coming with a host of performance upgrades and more aggressive styling cues. The WRX gets a 227-horsepower, turbocharged engine, while the WRX STI offers a higher-output turbocharged motor that produces a truly quick 300 horsepower.
