Sharing platforms, powertrains, and components with the Buick Terraza, Chevrolet Uplander (formerly the Venture) and the Saturn Relay, the new Montana SV6 is being marketed as a "crossover sport van" for those buyers who might otherwise prefer an SUV. As such it offers more-aggressive exterior styling and rides slightly higher than the archetypical minivan. A 3.5-liter V-6 generates a just-adequate 200 horsepower and comes mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Both front- and all-wheel-drive models are available. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard on the base model, with anti-lock brakes optional. While the vehicle breaks no new ground, it includes many of the requisite minivan features, including foldable second and third-row seats, with a 50/50-split rear seat that folds flat into the floor. A remote starter function and DVD entertainment system are optional.
