The big-buck S-Class continues atop Mercedes' sedan line for 2005 with relatively few changes. The rear-drive S430 and S500 versions come powered by V-6 and V-8 engines, respectively, which drive the rear wheels via a seven-speed-automatic transmission. A 5.5-liter supercharged V-8 in the S55 AMG variant produces 493 horsepower, while the twin-turbo V-12 in the S600 generates the same power, but with greater low-end torque.
