Maserati’s Quattroporte will get a new automatic transmission option for this coming model year.

The luxurious four-door sedan now comes with a DuoSelect sequential gearbox. The current range of big Maseratis includes a Sport GT and an Executive GT, as well as a base model, all fitted with the sequential box.

The Automatic wll be a separate model. Maserati promises a near-ideal weight balance of 49 percent front, 51 percent rear, an improvement over the DuoSelect cars’ 47 and 53 percent.

The Quattroporte Automatic will be shown at the 2007 Detroit auto show in January, with sales starting in the same month.
