The full-size LX470 is a more luxuriously equipped version of the Toyota Land Cruiser sport-utility vehicle. It carries over into 2007 with minor updates, including a new front passenger seat occupant-classification sensor. The sensor signals airbag deployment in an impact depending on whether there is a passenger in the front seat. Front-seat-mounted side airbags and front seat and second-row side-curtain airbags are now standard. The LX470 is powered by a standard 268-horsepower 4.7-liter V-8 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel-drive system. Four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, traction control, a limited-slip rear differential and an adjustable-height adaptive suspension are standard, as are a rear backup video camera, DVD navigation with a wireless telephone interface, heated automatic-dimming side mirrors, heated leather seats and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Only a handful of items are optional, but these include a back-seat DVD player, a rear spoiler, and a Night View system that helps drivers to see the road ahead beyond the range of the car's low-beam headlamps. A hydraulic Adjustable Height Control (AHC) system raises the vehicle to handle off-road terrain or lower it for easy entry. A premium 11-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system is standard.
