The Car Connection Expert Review

If you ignore badging and a few other details, the Lexus IS 250C and IS 350C convertibles are very hard to tell apart. Both come with the same upscale exterior that's similar to that of the IS sedans from the front only, plus a reasonably roomy backseat and an excellent folding hardtop.

But between the 2011 Lexus IS 250C and 2011 Lexus IS 350C, the pick of our editors is without hesitation the IS 350C. While the IS 250C, with its 204-hp, 2.5-liter V-6, can move the sedan quickly enough, it feels sluggish in the convertible, which weighs about 300 pounds more. The Lexus IS 350C is the way to go; it gets the 306-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 and a complete change of character, with brisk acceleration, though the experience is still rather sedate; the six-speed automatic responds well but doesn't bring out the performance character.

For an up-close look at how the IS 350C's styling, performance, comfort, safety, and features fare with respect to other luxury touring convertibles, please see our full review on the 2011 Lexus IS 250 and 2011 IS C, where you'll get our take along with highlights from other top-notch reviews on the Web.
