Sharing platforms and components with the truck-basedToyota4Runner, Lexus' midsize GX470 sport-utility vehicle comes wrapped in more-elegant-looking exterior styling with a plusher interior and additional standard features. Its 235-horsepower 4.7-liter V-8 engine is coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission and a sophisticated four-wheel drive system. Front, side, and head airbags are included, as are four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes, vehicle skid control, and an auto-leveling rear suspension. A wide range of convenience features automatic front and rear air conditioning, a CD changer, garage door opener, navigation system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, power moonroof, heated leather seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Roll-sensing side-curtain airbags, a DVD entertainment system, and a rear backup camera are optional. Changes for 2005 are relatively minor.
