Although it is based on the four-door Sportage, it is 13.9 inches shorter and rides on a 92.9-inch wheelbase, compared to the four-door's 104.3-inch wheelbase. The manually operated soft top has the same engine as the four-door — the 130-horsepower 2.0-liter dual-overhead-cam engine. This engine develops 127 pound-feet of torque. Cargo space with all seats in place is 13.0 cubic feet and increases to 39.4 with the rear seats folded down. The convertible inherits the driver-side knee airbag from the hardtop model. The two-door convertible is offered in a two-wheel-drive version that comes with a four-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive version with a five-speed manual. Standard equipment includes dual airbags and power door locks, windows and mirrors. Four-wheel anti-lock brakes are available as an option.
The four-door model features a slight redesign and now comes with dual airbags. The Sephia four-door compact sedan is unchanged
