Axiom
One of the first mid-size "crossover" sport-utility vehicles, the Axiom never quite caught on among U.S. SUV intenders, even though it rides lower to the ground and affords a sleeker look than most models in its class. Available with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, the Axiom is sufficiently powered by a direct-injection 250-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine that's fitted with variable valve timing. A four-speed automatic is the only transmission offered and anti-lock breaks are standard. The vehicle's interior is both spacious and comfortable, and sports standard amenities like automatic air conditioning, a CD changer, keyless entry and a trip computer. The top XS trim level further includes fog lights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power moonroof and power leather heated seats. Little is expected to change for 2005.
