Ascender
Continuing with only minor changes for 2005 in a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive, the Ascender is Isuzu's version of the sport-utility vehicle that's otherwise known as the Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL. The Ascender comes powered by the TrailBlazer and Envoy's 4.2-liter in-line six-cylinder engine that generates 270 horsepower and drives either the rear- or all-four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. A 290-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8 is optional. Three rows of seats are on hand to accommodate as many as seven passengers. Four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes, front and rear air conditioning, keyless entry, a garage door opener, luggage rack, CD stereo, skid plates, and alloy wheels are all standard. Available options include front-side airbags, traction control (but only on 2WD models), adjustable accelerator and brake pedals, the OnStar communications system, and leather upholstery.
