Insight
The futuristic-looking two-seat gas/electric hybrid-powered Insight continues for 2006 unchanged. Since its original introduction it has reigned at, or near, the top of high-mileage vehicles. A 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine is the primary source of thrust, and it uses an onboard electric motor to provide added power when needed. Its LCD dashboard gauges indicate whether the gasoline engine is acting alone or in tandem with the DC motor, as well as your current and average fuel economy. A five-speed manual transmission comes standard and a gearless, continuously variable automatic transmission also is offered. Air conditioning is the car's only option.
