GMC's mid-size
rear-drive van continues unchanged for 2005 and shares platforms and components
with the Chevrolet Astro. It comes powered by a standard 190-horsepower,
4.3-liter V-6 engine that's mated to a four-speed-automatic transmission.
All-wheel drive is available for additional traction on slippery pavement. Its
ladder-on-frame truck platform enables the Safari to tow a trailer or boat or
haul up to 5800 pounds. Buyers can choose a conventional two-piece tailgate or
optional horizontal-opening dual rear Dutch doors for greater cargo-loading
convenience.
