Ranger
Ford's compact pickup receives a number of appearance updates for 2006, including revised bumper colors, a new horizontal grille insert, added fender flares, clear-lens parking lamps, new tail lamps and fog lamps, and a massive nine-inch Ford oval on the grille and tailgate. It continues to offer a full range of model choices, in rear- or four-wheel drive, that includes a snappy looking Ranger Sport version for younger buyers. Both regular-cab and extended SuperCab configurations are offered. The Ranger is available with a base 143-horsepower four-cylinder engine, or a choice of two V-6s, including a 148-horsepower 3.0-liter version and a 4.0-liter model that generates 207 horses. Each can be fitted to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed-automatic transmission. Newly added options include two 15-inch Alcoa forged aluminum wheels, body-color side moldings, a new Bright Trim Package, and a new XLT 4x2 Appearance Package. Also, the limited-slip rear axle and Payload Package #2 are now available on the STX trim level. New colors for 2006 include Screaming Yellow Clearcoat, Torch Red Clearcoat, and Redfire Clearcoat Metallic.
