TrailBlazer/EXT
This mid-size sport-utility vehicle shares platforms with the GMC Envoy and Buick Rainier. The EXT is the stretched version that adds a third-row seat, and is actually longer, overall than the full-size Tahoe. Its standard 4.2-liter in-line six-cylinder engine generates 275 horsepower, which is more than many competitors' V-8s. Meanwhile a high-torque 290-hp V-8 engine is also available for added muscle. For 2005, this engine includes GM's innovative Displacement on Demand (DOD) technology on EXT models that closes off half the engine's cylinders when not needed to maximize fuel economy without sacrificing power. Other changes for 2005 include redesigned seats, door panels, floor mats, and console on LT models, and additional chrome interior accents on both LS and LT models. An MP3-compatible stereo is available on LS models, along with improved touch-screen functions for the available navigation system. All models are now equipped with OnStar.
