Along with the Impala sedan, the front-drive,
full-size
Monte Carlo
coupe was updated for the
’06 model year. Changes for 2007 include a simplified engine lineup (the
formerly available 3.9-V-6 has been dropped, leaving the base 3.5-liter V-6 and
optional 5.3-liter V-8 in SS models), standard XM satellite radio for SS models,
a standard tire pressure monitoring system and an updated version of GM’s OnStar
system with turn-by-turn navigation. In addition, the 3.5-liter V-6 now offers
E85/flex fuel capability. There are four new colors for ’07 as well — Precision
Red, Imperial Blue Metallic, Black Amethyst, and Red Jewel Tintcoat. LT models
also get standard 17-inch wheels and a Rally Stripe Package is available on SS
models. Four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution
are standard on all versions but the base model, and traction control is also
available in addition to front-side airbags. Heated leather sport buckets are
available, as is a premium audio system with MP3 capability.
