Equinox

Introduced last year, the compact crossover Equinox shares platforms and certain components with both the Saturn Vue and the Pontiac Torrent. The Equinox comes powered by a 185-horsepower V-6 engine that's drives either the front or all four wheels via a five-speed-automatic transmission. McPherson struts at the front wheels, combined with an independent four-link rear suspension with coil springs in the rear contribute to the vehicle's car-like ride and handling characteristics. To maximize either rear-passenger room or cargo space, the back seat can adjust as much as eight inches fore and aft. What's more, the rear seat and front passenger's seat can be folded flat to further expand its carrying abilities. A versatile height-adjustable cargo panel can function as a shelf, security cover or a picnic table. For 2006, a body-color front fascia is included on LS models, while body-color outside mirrors are added to LT versions.
