Cadillac’s sporty two-seat retractable hardtop roadster is based on the Chevrolet Corvette, but is defined by its own sharp-edged styling and exclusive 4.6-liter, 320-horsepower Northstar V-8 engine. For 2007, the XLR is updated with a new ultra luxury Platinum model, a Passion Red special-edition model, standard six-speed automatic transmission, updated OnStar system with turn-by-turn navigation assistance and a redesigned key fob. The Platinum model is equipped with Liquid Amethyst or Raven Black exterior paint; chrome grille; 18-inch, 15-spoke polished wheels; Platinum exterior badging; unique doorsill plates; and special wood and metal accents in the interior. The Passion Red special edition package includes a chrome grille, 18-inch chrome wheels and numbered sill plate. Only 200 of these will be built this year. Performance enthusiasts can choose the high-performance XLR-V — which packs a 469-horsepower supercharged 4.4-liter dual-overhead-cam Northstar V-8 engine and can reach 60 mph in less than five seconds. GM’s StabiliTrak stability control, Magnasteer power steering and Magnetic Ride Control are standard on all versions of the XLR.
