Marty Padgett Marty Padgett Editorial Director

The 2010 Aston Martin Rapide is a luxury four-door exotic, the first sedan in the company's history.

A derivative of the DB9 range, the Rapide shares the DB9's 6.0-liter V-12, its rear-drive running gear, its six-speed automatic transmission and some of its aluminum architecture.

With the stretch in wheelbase on the Rapide comes an extra pair of doors--"swan" doors, Aston says, that cant out and upward for easier access into the very small rear pair of seats.

We're giving the Rapide its score based on a long preview drive on European roads. If we're able to drive the exotic on U.S. roads, we'll bring you a full TCC review, along with more quotes and snippets from other sources--and we'll update the tentative rating you see here.

Meanwhile, we've given it the full treatment on our on our sister site, MotorAuthority--follow along to read our first drive of the 2010 Aston Martin Rapide.
