Other Choices

Why should I also consider these? X

The 2009 Volkswagen Routan merits a serious look if VW’s iconoclast styling and a huge cargo capacity top your list.

However, the refinement, fit, finish, and driving demeanor of the Odyssey make it the choice for enthusiasts.

Toyota’s Sienna is the smooth, soft, and luxurious player here, but a fully optioned version retails for even more than a Routan.

Significant manufacturer rebates applying to the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country will probably make these Routan platform-mates a more attractive buy for the budget-minded.

But price aside, unless your passengers really need the removable picnic table and more easily reconfigured second-row seats of the uplevel Grand Caravan and Town & Country, we’d call the Routan a better, more stylish bet than their Pentastar siblings.
