The Saturn Vue was redesigned last year and offers a choice of four- or six-cylinder engines and a hybrid model.

The Honda CR-V is the class sales leader; it has great interior room, but controversial styling and only a four-cylinder engine.

The Toyota RAV4 offers a third-row seating option as well as a V-6 engine, along with the base four-cylinder.

Ford’s Escape also has four- and six-cylinder options, along with a Hybrid model that bests the bunch in fuel economy.
