Mazda5 Notes

...Storage is sparse. Map pockets in the doors are preferred to the bottle holders. There is a storage pocket behind the driver's seat only...

Sliding rear doors sealed the deal

...Love the handling, sportiness (zoom-zoom!), and glad I have my first moonroof. Surprised, though, that the gas mileage isn't a tad higher."...

Comfortable with power to spare!

...We've been getting 26 mpg in all around driving and 30 mpg on exclusively highway miles. The engine has plenty of pep and you can chirp the tires at a moments...

I Love my Mazda5!!

...With both rows down, I can fit larger items like my bicycle. I always thought the "Zoom Zoom" commercials were a little cheesy until I became a Mazda owner...

Mazda 5 Mpv

...Good fuel economy at around 30mpg ( good considering the way I drive! ) and it looks a bit different. Much more comfortable than the Zafira I tried, and better...

Why should I also consider these? X

With a base price of just under $18,000 for the base Sport, the Mazda5 is quite a deal for a sporty, economical people-mover, provided you watch the options; fully loaded, the Mazda5's top Grand Touring model can top $28,000.

Kia has a lineup of vehicles that are especially friendly for urban dwellers who want a lot of people-hauling ability and yet need to fit into a compact-only parking space.

The Sedona is one of the few remaining minivans sold in a maneuverable short-wheelbase version.

But there's also the Rondo, a vehicle that looks a little odd but does everything right in terms of people-hauling and interior comfort.

The Rondo has hinged rear doors, however, and only offers an automatic transmission.

The Kia doesn't have the Mazda5's tight handling, though with either of the Rondo's four- or six-cylinder engines, it feels peppier and more refined than the Mazda5.

Among other offerings, the RAV4 is one of the few compact SUVs to offer a usable third-row seat.

The Scion xB might suit those who don't really need a third row of seating, as its stylish, boxy body affords a roomy interior, with perky performance and fuel economy that's as good as the Mazda5's.
