There’s been a battle over the rights to historic Italian sports car brand Automobili Turismo e Sport (ATS) over the past year but the matter finally appears to have been settled, with an Italian court recently granting the rights to the brand as well as several associated sports car designs to a company based in Borgomanero, located between the industrial hubs of Milan and Turin.
In an effort to keep up with its American and Asian rivals, Volkswagen plans to shorten vehicle life cycles from seven years to five, with a mid-cycle update coming after the first three years of sale. The first of VW’s models to move to this five-year life cycle will be the Golf, which was all-new for the 2015 model year and thus likely to be updated for 2018.

Porsche is moving forward with plans to produce and sells its first electric car, but the German automaker is already seeing success with plug-in hybrids.
