Nissan North America has issued a recall for select models of the 2013 Armada and 2013 Titan. The recall stems from a problem with the vehicles' braking system, which could result in a crash.

According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Nissan's recall is limited to vehicles manufactured between February 22, 2013 and May 3, 2013. All told, that's about 3,247 vehicles.

The cause of the recall is a faulty brake master cylinder. NHTSA says that in some Armadas and Titans, that cylinder may occasionally reduce the braking power of the vehicles' front brakes. That could translate into longer stop times, and the longer it takes to stop a vehicle, the greater the risk of an accident.

Last week, Nissan sent recall alerts to the owners of affected vehicles. Once owners receive those notices, they can take vehicles to a Nissan dealer, who will replace the master cylinder, free of charge.

If you believe your vehicle may be included in this recall and haven't yet received a notice, we encourage you to contact Nissan at 800-647-7261. Or, if you prefer, you can call NHTSA at 888-327-4236 and reference recall campaign #13V451000.
